Oshkosh Corporation has recently delivered the new Oshkosh Striker® 4×4 into service at Pago Pago International Airport (PPG) in American Samoa.

Pago Pago International Airport is a 700-acre public airport owned and operated by the Department of Port Administration (DPA) of the American Samoa Government. The airport is one of three operated by the DPA. The others are smaller general aviation airports at Ofu and Fitiuta. PPG is American Samoa’s primary commercial service airport.

The new Oshkosh® Striker® 4×4 features the Oshkosh® TAK-4® all-wheel independent suspension for superior ride quality. The cab inside sits up to five firefighters, with a tilt-telescoping steering wheel column, with center-console mounted turret controls, heated and power adjustable rearview mirrors, and 7.8 cubic meters of glass with overhead mounted windows for maximum and unmatched all-around visibility.

The firefighting system includes a 1,585 gallon (6,000 liters) water tank capacity, a 222 gallon (840 liters) foam tank, a 550 lbs. (250 kg) dry chemical system delivered through the twin hand line Hydro-Chem™ nozzle.

The ‘ARFF Hot Fire Training Facility’ at PPG was constructed to provide training to all airport firefighters through the islands of the South Pacific region.
