1917: The Dawn of the Oshkosh Legacy

  • On May 1, the Oshkosh Company began. Back then, it was named as the Wisconsin Duplex Auto Company. The company created the first four-wheel drive, known as ‘Old Betsy’. In 1918, the company then moved to the city of Oshkosh in Wisconsin. Since then, it changed its name to Oshkosh Truck Manufacturing Company.

  • In 1953, the first Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicle was delivered to the U.S. Coast Guard.

  • Oshkosh became the first manufacturer of on and off road trucks to achieve ISO-9001 certification, an international standard for quality assurance.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • In 1996, Oshkosh acquired the Pierce Manufacturing Company. The acquisition kick started Oshkosh’s diversification strategy. With the Pierce brand, Oshkosh became the world’s leading manufacturer of fire engines, providing the most secure protection for thousands of cities in the U.S. and worldwide.

  • Oshkosh Corporation was ranked 400th in Forbes Magazine’s ‘America’s Best Big Companies’.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

  • On the 18th March, Oshkosh Corporation establishes its first Asian office in Beijing, China. The office is responsible for its shared services, brand sales and marketing activities within Asia.

    Continuing its successful acquisition of the decade, in December 2006, Oshkosh acquired the leading global provider of aerial equipment and telescopic boom forklift truck manufacturer, JLG limited. With the completion merger with JLG, Oshkosh declared that it has established 4 business segments: Aerial Equipment, Defence, Fire and Emergency and Commercial fields.

  • Oshkosh developed a new Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) truck – the Legacy Striker. This ARFF vehicle continues to revolutionize the ARFF industry in the next 20 years.

  • Oshkosh delivered 6 units of the Legacy Strikers and 26 units of snow trucks to the Beijing Capital International Airport, in anticipation of the 2008 Olympic Games that was held in Beijing.

  • On 18th March 2009, Oshkosh officially launched its Sales and Parts Distribution Center in Singapore.

    In the same year, Oshkosh celebrated a successful breakthrough of the introduction of the Pierce PUC into China. We subsequently celebrated our launch into South Korea, India and Japan.

  • In 2009, Oshkosh announced an order for 2 units of the Oshkosh Striker® 3000 aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicles for Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) in Mumbai India. This is the first sale of Oshkosh Strikers into the Indian subcontinent.

  • Oshkosh Airport Products released the brand new Global Striker. The new Striker® remains the world’s most innovative airport rescue fire fighting vehicle. It was unveiled and launched at the 2010 Aviation Fire & Rescue Symposium that was held in Beijing.

     

  • In 2011, Oshkosh Corporation announced the first ever sales of  Oshkosh Striker® 3000 aircraft rescue and firefighting (ARFF) vehicles to Indonesia. The vehicles were placed into service at key airports located throughout the Indonesian archipelago.

  • Oshkosh Corporation delivered and placed into service five new generation Oshkosh Global Striker® aircraft rescue and fire fighting (ARFF) vehicles and two Pierce custom emergency response apparatus at Changi International Airport in Singapore.This marks our first vehicle delivery to Changi International Airport, Singapore.

    In the same year, the Oshkosh India sales office was set up.

  • In January 2015, the Oshkosh Singapore Sales and Parts Distribution Center relocated to a new facility. With our enhanced regional parts warehouse, Oshkosh is well-positioned to serve our customers with stronger product support, after sales service and fast parts replenishment.
